Contrary to the widely circulated gists that our SUG president, comrade Marshal-Umukoro Obatarhe, paid the school fees of some students as his campaign strategy during the election held here on campus earlier this year.
Yesterday he confirmed to Campus Echoes that it wasn't true. In his words 'how can a student have such an amount of money to have paid the school fees of about sixty students'.
It could have been a political propaganda aimed to sabotage his political ambition because that act could have been, more or less, an election malpractice.
Nevertheless, we can't take away from his generous spirit. He, comrade Marshal-Umukoro, confirmed to us that he played a significant part in convincing the NGO- You and I Foundation into paying the tuition fees of students.
Although, he did a good job by winning the hearts of the Foundation. We shouldn't forget the generous hands and compassionate hearts of the NGO who so gracefully gave out such amount of money, the fact that they are a nongovernmental organisation, notwithstanding.
