Last session sprang the change era on campus and one can still testify that the wind is still ongoing relentlessly strong. Some were shocking as were celebrated but when the said changes gradually crept into student’s personal comfort and lives, wolf cries on the part of students became a common phenomenon and life became unbearable for a number of students who saw it as civilised oppression.
Some few have humbly left school hostels to exercise their university freedom outside campus. For some, though living on hope that such changes won’t last, kept faith and remained on campus.
Then came this session’s big story so far, Prof Okaba appointed last session as Oleh campus provost and prime jugular in enforcing the said unbearable changes was dismissed in controversial fashion. Prayers answered? For some yes, then news broke this week that the refrigerator ban imposed last session has been lifted. Before one could say Jack, swamps of fridges of different manufacturers found their way into school hostels, many felt reprieved and believed heaven’s prayer access has been widely opened.
Not too fast though guys, the ban seem not to have been lifted as reports reached Campus Echoes last night that Barrister Okumagba the newly appointed Dean of students after emerging from a meeting at Abraka informed students that the ban is still in effect and those who have already brought in their refrigerators to please find ways of taking them out. You call it bad market or Yawa, refrigerator ban is still fully place.
