We got this report earlier today and it has it that all government parastatals in Delta state are to observe today as public holiday in commemoration of President Jonathan's campaign rally in Delta state.
We advise students though to at least be around their classes as our lecturers can be funny at times. Here is the story as we got it.

The Delta State Government has
asked schools to close down on Wednesday as President Goodluck Jonathan
visits Asaba, the state capital, for the presidential campaign rally of
the Peoples Democratic Party.
School authorities told parents and guardians on Tuesday as they
picked up their children and wards that the schools would be shut on
Wednesday because of the President’s visit.
The Commissioner for Information, Mr. Chike Ogeah, confirmed to our
correspondent that Wednesday had been declared a public holiday to
enable citizens of the state to welcome Jonathan.
The declaration of the public holiday came as the Goodluck Support
Group said it would shut down the entire state to welcome the Peoples
Democratic Party presidential campaign team to the state.
The Delta State Coordinator of the group, Mr. Austin Ezeagbo, said at
a press briefing in Asaba on Tuesday that the President had done so
well for Nigerians that the least they could do to show appreciation was
to re-elect him.
Ezeagbo said, “Our vision is to return Jonathan to Aso Rock 2015. And
it’s a job already done. We are doing this because of the job he has
done. Nigeria from Independence in 1960 was rated higher than Japan,
Indonesia and Malaysia.
“Our roads were death traps. But he has transformed that. He has
built 12 federal universities, nine in the North. The man has done well
with aviation, and agriculture in Nigeria today is top class. What else
do you want me to say that Jonathan has not done?
Let me go beyond that. Tafawa Balewa did two terms; Obasanjo did two
terms; Shehu Shagari did two terms. Now is Jonathan’s turn. The thing is
allow him two terms, thereafter the presidency can now move to other
parts of the country.
“You scratch my back, I scratch your back. What we intend to do is to shut down Delta State tomorrow; not just in Asaba.”
