For so many students, this will not be coming as a shock but probably a bit late on the part the SRC going by the drama that has been witnessed so far in the semester. But nevertheless, the big story is that the SUG executives have finally been suspended by the Students' Representative Council (SRC). The unanimous decision was taken yesterday, 23rd October, after the House passed a Vote of no Confidence on the body.
The suspension was based on the grounds of
1. Inefficiency and ineffectiveness in discharging official duties
2. Strong allegation of financial misappropriation
3. Gross show of irresponsibility
4. Anti-democampus activities and total gross violation of the SUG Constitution with utmost disrespect
With the suspension, the SUG executives are expected to hand over official properties to the SRC barring any change.
It is pertinent to note at this point that this is not the first time that the SUG Executives are suspended, it has always been a question of implementation. How does this present SRC hope to implement their threats (because that is what it is now)?
