Today at about 4pm, members of the NUESA Congress comprising of representatives from various engineering departments converged at the Diploma annex beside Engineering auditorium of the Faculty of Engineering to observe their first session for the semester since resumption.
The Congress which was presided by the Hon. Speaker, comrade Edore Gideon had in attendance the deputy speaker, Congress clerk, Hon. Young, the chief whip and a few other members. Also in attendance at the proceedings was the NUESA President, comrade Uti Nwachukwu.
Deliberations centered on the Review of the approved NUESA budget scheduled to take place on the 14th of August, 2014; the inaugurations of the Constitution Review Committee comprising of five departmental presidents and five congress members making it a total of ten.
The NUESA President who was in attendance informed the house that the NUESA week has been slated for the first week of September (1st-5th) and programs for the week will be communicated to the house via the NUESA social director.
During deliberations, the deputy Speaker frowned at the inability of the Congress to appoint a staff adviser for the NUESA body owing to the fact that three staff members in persons of Engr. Ukpeki, Engr. Ikpesini had already been nominated for the position. The Speaker informed the Congress that the issue will be resolved come Monday, the 11th.
The Congress was adjourned till on the 14th of August.
