Reports from most quarters continue to show discontent with regards to the performance of the officiating referee of the Provost Cup match between the 300L (Engr) and 200L (Engr) which took place on Wednesday.
Most of the reactions surrounded the controversial decisions by the referee during the encounter, one of which was the most hotly contested decision of allowing play to resume (2nd half) without proper notification of the 300L team which to most viewers killed the morale of the game.
Other decisions like the unnecessary foul calls, blatant issuing of yellow cards and
failure to make certain calls which ended up proving decisive during the match, continue to ring bells.
Maybe the reason why the continual complains, of using a lawn-tennis coach to officiate a football match, keeps rising.
We, at Campus Echoes, hope the organizers quickly address such issues, so as to avoid a Provost Cup filled with controversies.
