Students in police net over alleged fraud

Reports reached Campus Echoes yesterday evening that two engineering student are presently in police custody for a reported case of fraud. The two students were arrested yesterday evening around the hour of 6pm after police officials raided their hostel.

With the arrest, concerned students comprising of both Law and Engineering went to the police station to show their fellow comrade care and to inquire the reason for the arrest. They met strong resistance from the police who denied them access to their colleagues. After much confrontation and persistence on the students' part with the police, two students were later granted audience to speak to their colleagues to find out the cause of the arrest.

It was later related to us that the students confessed to the fraud allegations without much heat from the police, though some believe it might have been under duress but that remains to be unseen. They will be transferred to Asaba headquarters sooner than later. More details of the issue will be related to you as soon as we gather information.
