With deep respect for democracy and diplomacy, one of the SUG Presidential aspirants communicated with Campus Echoes to shed more light on the issue about the results from the primary elections held between comrade Mike Osajiele and comrade Tennyson of the department of Petroleum and Gas Engineering.

In a phone chat with comrade Mike Osajiele yesterday, he told us in his own way the full details of what transpired on the primary election ground. He said the electoral committee on that day issued out ballot papers to the students to cast their votes, on retrieving the papers it was noticed that the number of ballot papers retrieved was more than the number given out but the electoral committee went ahead anyways to count the votes. As for him, he remained silent because he wanted the election to go on without any disruption and he sincerely wanted a free and fair election.
But on counting the 57 ballot papers that was retrieved, it was noticed the number has fallen to 51 which leaves a discrepancy of 6 ballot papers. The question “where were the 6 ballot papers?” began to rise up from every corner of the election room.
He disclosed to us that, normally, the coordinator of the class, who automatically is the head of the electoral committee and who was supposed to be neutral in this political matter was later discovered to be the campaign manager of comrade Tennyson which all points to the fact that a tamper was made to the ballot papers in favour of his boss.
Because of this sensed foul play all hell was let loosed on the election ground and the result of the primary election was inconclusive. On this note, he told us that the HOD of Petroleum and Gas Engineering has promised to conduct another primary for them both.
When asked why he went ahead to place his banner and share handbills, he replied that in politics the statement that the earliest bird eats the fattest worm also holds true.
As it stands efforts are being made to get a chat section with comrade Tennyson as regards this issue. Both points of view matter a lot.
