Everything
seemed to be going well on campus yesterday; the exams, students jacking and
hanging out, until around the hour of 4pm when students were rounding up exams
for the day, that a group of people, students more precisely, numbering over
thirty, with angry looking faces gathered around Shell block- the venue for the
300L Law exams- without any element of joy, all waiting to lay their pound of
flesh on the SUG President.
The
president, Campus Echoes, gathered escaped by a whisker all thanks to one of
the Law lecturers, Mr. Scott Ekuakpor who smuggled him in his car to the
chagrin of the waiting students.
Rumours had
it that the students were angry over the president’s act of cowardice for short
changing them over a reported huge amount of money. We gathered that some
students were mobilized by the president for a Governorship rally last week and
a handsome amount was dropped for their participation, only for the president
to siphon a very large chunk of the cash and left them to scramble over the
crumbs of cake.
