Whose fault could this be?
Could it be the fault of the School authority, or the fault
of the construction engineers?
We can’t say for sure but what we know is that a fatal error
could have rendered our female students (at Delta state university, Oleh
Campus) homeless had it not been the intervention of rapid response.
The roof renovation that has been going on at the IVL (Isoko
Venture Limited) female hostel had good intentions but met a fatal wrong prediction which led the contractor to completely remove the former roof so
that a new one could be constructed . The error proved disastrous as the heavy
down pour of rain experienced yesterday penetrated and flooded the rooms;
destroying the properties (food and documents included) of our girls.
The affected students, as at yesterday, were lounged at the
H&O Hotel.
The female students, in their distress, blamed the contractors
for not issuing them an evacuation notice. At least, a notice that would have
urged the students to temporarily pack their belongings to other rooms, or
better still the overall construction should have waited until school is on
holiday.
Campus Echoes urge that the rehabilitation should be
hastened up so that the affected students can return to their hostels and
prepare for their exams. See more pictures after the cut:
